RUS V. Zvonareva vs CAN L. Fernandez
BEL Y. Wickmayer vs USA S. Kenin [2]

Nice draw, evenly spread out with what is given and can have some later round matches of significance. Yet, early round matches of note:

1). Venus vs Muchova, lst round. If Muchova's blisters have healed from her excellent match with Naomi, Venus has no chance.
2). Potential 2nd rder of Sabalenka v Azarenka, 2 home girls. However, Sabalenka remains wild and reckless and can lose her lst round match with Dodin.
3). Cori' v Sevastova, lst round. Sevastova doesn't have a lot of power, drops and slices a lot where Cori' even at 16 has nice court coverage to exploit such. Expecting a Cori' victory. Then, her 2nd rder is the winner of Kasatkina v Kostyuk a winnable match versus either, tho' the talented Kostyuk can win, but going through growing pains.
4). Serena v Ahn. Serena should win, but 24 seems remote more than ever, even with depleted fields as this Cincy/NY and USO indicates. Yet, her section of the draw is weak and can possibly reach the qtrs w/o a sweat, tho' possible matches with a recently failing Sloane and a repeat with Sakkari looms down the road. However, nearing 40, she's in decline and doesn't realize it, for her ego remains strong as if she's in her prime per her post-match pressers and tennis commentators maintaining this false narrative of her at this point in her career of dominance and dictation in her game when this is clearly not the case anymore. Her groundstrokes have lost steam and she's making a lot of errors. Her serve is still good, but her overall game has fallen. No shame in that, for no one beats Mother Time, nor Father Time for the men.

Lastly, rust....the hiatus has impacted many, players lost rhythm and timing and is difficult to regain such on short notice. However, certain players maintained conditioning or improved such (Naomi and Muchova for two), practiced significantly and are ready, given what has unfolded in this Cincy/NY event. Imo, threats for the title are Naomi, Vika (surprised after her dismal performance with Venus in Lexington, but has looked sharp in this event, regaining her form of pre-birth Vika), Mertens, Muchova and maybe Ka Pliskova. However, if Naomi is distracted and upset by this recent attention to the issues of this day, then she can falter due to such. Wide-open event, nevertheless.

Just noticed......Tsvetana Pironkova is in the draw..... How? SR? She hasn't played since 2017, her last match was Wimby of the same year, a 3 year hiatus. Had a baby in March of 2018. Now 32 is in the main draw of this USO and will collect 61k for her lst rd appearance.

Had to go to the ITF and Wiki' sites to find info, for the WTA site has no info on her and still don't know what her ranking was after her last match at Wimby '17.

Amended:

Interesting......I'm at the ITF site looking up Tsvetana's info and just now they updated her appearance for this upcoming USO.

I wonder if all the men and women who skipped the US Open due to corona virus concerns are going to also skip the French Open? I mea. If the real reason was the virus then they should be skipping it. The counts for France are just as bad now as when they started. I wonder if they will still be allowing fans?

wow... I entered some numbers in the Prediction Game without even looking at the names. Planning to update later before the rounds. And I completely got lazy.
Came today to take a look and I am only behind by 6 points... I didn't get points for Serena in some rounds while she won. lol lol... When did that ever happen? She's always my pick. The lady is Amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But maybe had I entered "well thought" scores, I may have done poorly. lol lol :)
Hope I didn't wreck things by changing those default blind scores now.
