Anisimova won in three.

Will be interesting to see her against Serena tomorrow.
A Serena vs Wozniacki final is still possible.

Someone on Twitter said: Wouldn't it be something if Serena's doubles partner met her in the singles final.

I said: She did that with Venus dozens of times :)

She did it !!!!!!!!!!!
Well done, Compton Queen !!!
Hate those slow starts. When I saw the very first serve at 60mph, followed by a 20 mph UE, I knew she was not taking her opponent seriously and would be in trouble.
Against Anisimova, she came out to play. There was no cheap serve to start the match.

Huge win. Can't believe we're saying that, but it's evident. Nerves again beset her at the start. If memory serves, she loses her first or second service game in every final she's been in since her return. I now expect her to be down 1-3.

Pegula having Venus ex-coach in her corner no doubt helped her stymie Serena.

Re Ostapenko's withdrawal from this event, she posted via twitter that her father returned to Spirit. Tough moment and it'll linger for some time. Nevertheless, my sympathies and condolences to Jelena, mother, family, relatives and all who are feeling the loss.....
