McNally at the net is a winning formula. The youngster could teach Net 101
Standing room only.
Go, team McCoco, go !!!!!!!!!!!

Impressive......seating capacity for Armstrong stadium is "14k"..... I've yet to see a doubles match with attendance like that, tho' with Roger playing doubles matches at IW, maybe filled that house (I don't recall but assume that it was, for Roger is the premier "packer of houses" in tennis), which also includes the Sisters when they played doubles drew well, but not to filled-out stadiums. This is unprecedented for doubles what Cori' and Cat' are doing here. In addition, even though the men's big 3 are here with Serena going for #24, the ladies generally have overshadowed the men at this USO. Outside of Roger, Novak, Rafa and the clownish Monfils, who always draws well here at the USO, the men's matches have been relegated to the back burner.

It will be interesting to see if Cori's allure will have an impact next year overseas. With one last pro tourney ere her 16th birthday in March for her 15th birth year, per the AER, she'll play the AO. Since AO generally draws well for both the ladies and gents, that won't be the barometer. I'm interested to see if this interest in Cori will translate to events prior to the French, here and overseas. She won't be eligible for IW, which begins on the 3rd of March, but will be eligible for Miami, then Charleston, where she'll w/o question get WCs to both events. Under the AER for 16 year olds, she's allowed only 4 WCs for the year with 12 events, plus 4 merited events. Whether she gets the 4 merited events remains to be seen. I don't think she'll use her 2 extra WCs for Madrid and Rome, if those tourneys wanted to extend WCs to her, so those events, unfortunately, won't be on Cori's agenda, I don't think. Because of her success at Wimby, Cori would be granted WCs to any Brit grass warmups (Nottingham, Birmingham or Eastbourne), including the 100k ITF events, as well as Wimby, if she's not qualified by rank. Yet, I would think she would save her WCs for Cincy and the USO, if need be, or DC/San Jose, post-Wimby, contingent on how her 16th year unfolds.

What can one say....... DC pimped her to attendance success, Winston-Salem did the same for a men's event, she and Ashleigh Barty sold out their exho. Now, she's packing houses at this USO. She and Naomi packed the house on Ashe in prime time, her doubles match with Cat' packed Armstrong. The States has clearly taken to Cori'. Whether this extreme interest in her extends to overseas events remains to be seen, which is not "hype", for no one in the media is projecting and touting Cori' as a future tennis champion from what I've heard and read. The Stateside public is merely responding to her Wimby run, just as they did for Oudin. Yet, if overseas attendees do the same, what can one say.....

However, my "projection".....given her height at age 15 (just about as tall as Naomi at the moment), her current game, poise, talent and weapons, her all-court game with discipline, sense and coverage, resembling Venus at age 18, sans the absurd errors, the age I first saw Venus, who sent me through the roof, I believe that Cori will be as tall as Venus and a threat to title a Slam at that age, the lst young teen, since Serena, who Slam titled at 17. We'll see in 3 years, for I'm duly impressed.....

They play Barty/Azarenka next, both of whom are useful at net, particularly Barty who's prodigious. Should be entertaining.

I'm beginning to wonder if they'll put that match on Ashe..... If they can pack the 14k Armstrong, it would be interesting to see what they can attract on Ashe. Certainly not 23k, but if they did.......my gawd.....

Well.....Vika and Ashleigh ended the Cat'/Cori run with a 6-0, 6-1 shellacking. Nevertheless, the USO benefited highly from this young combo, breaking attendance records, in addition to being good experience for this dynamic duo.

Yeah.. Vika and Barty were very good and meant business. Barty was superb at the net.
McNally as usual, was great a the net too.
She's almost in the top-100 Single. She'll stun a few top players with her 'moving forward game'. Many girls are stuck behind the baseline. With a bit of experience playing at the top level, she'll be a threat in a short few years.

Caty's game is just so big already I can hardly believe she's 17.
Gut feeling tells me Barty is Stosur 2.0. She'll return to being a doubles specialist.
