Prague.....Karolina P. Withdrew...

Post by rex » Apr Mon 29, 2019 10:04 am

Karolina Pliskova has withdrawn from Prague. However, since the maindraw hasn't started no points to be awarded for the selection of her as the fmKO for PGames purposes. Barbara Strycova shifts from the bottom half of the draw to the top to face Mona and Muchova now faces a qualie.

Weather forecast for the week here is rain everyday to the weekend with lows of 40's on Saturday.

Antonia Lottner qualified earlier today, then played her lst round match soon thereafter winning such, 6-1, 6-4 against a nice player in Bouzkova, currently ranked at 116th. The match was hardly lopsided by the candy cane Bouzkova ate in the lst, for the games were quite competitive, but Antonia has such a diversified game that she dropped oft for points, finished from either side from the baseline and came forward on deep balls to put away volleys at the net. Hardly, is Antonia some 154th ranked player as her current ranking suggests, but a top-30 player in talent and game. Yet, she continues to flounder befuddling me to no end. However, I just love her game. Imo, she needs to put on some weight on her skinny frame, putting power into her lst serve, for she has a good service motion, but lacks the strength in such, tho' it does dictate somewhat but remains returnable. The rest of her game is top-notch, redirects well, drops for points, comes forward oft when appropriate and can finish inside the service line, a joy to watch. Defensively, she can be had, but no crime for no one at 6 1' moves as well as Venus in her prime at such a height. Gets Pera next and will watch if the match is on at a reasonable hour here stateside.

Unfortunately, Kuzmova lost to her friend (Schmiedlova) by easy 6-3 scores. Just have to be patient with Victoria's development, for she gets sloppy very often, lapsing into haplessness in key moments.

Totally agree. Kuzmova makes lots of stupid errors. She needs Sasah Bajin as coach.
Lottner has always been a talented player. She just needs more power. Got to hire the Best Coach ever, Richard Williams.
But that's too late. The coach retired long ago after winning multiple slams.
