#ed_op#i#ed_cl#Gavrilova blew a 5-2 lead in the 3rd, to lose 7-5 to Lucie. Haven't watched her in a while, but I've remembered her being very competitive and feisty on the court. Watching her today that energetic competitiveness all but disappeared, at least in this match. DFs were extreme plus some moonballing......smh. Yet, she's 23 in the rankings, so I guess it was just one of those days. #ed_op#br#ed_cl##ed_op#br#ed_cl#Good for Lucie moving on, as well as enjoyed her taking pictures, giving towels away and signing balls with the fans after the match. Nice stuff.....#ed_op#/i#ed_cl##ed_op#br#ed_cl#

Last time I watched her, she was heavier and shorter, spraying balls everywhere. :) I think she's done. Was fun watching her drive opponents crazy with her never die attitude, bouncing around the court like she was on some high grade meldonium. lol lol lol

The Russians all need a new 'formula'.

#ed_op#br#ed_cl##ed_op#br#ed_cl##ed_op#i#ed_cl#Well.....Gavrilova was doing the same today with less pep in her step. She does indeed look heavier and slower in addition to spraying; quite sloppy. Maybe, she's just going through a brief slump, coupled with some mental/confidence issues....... She's only 24 and still has time.

Update on Serena's withdrawal from the Roger's Cup. Per the attached article, Serena said she withdrew due to her mental funk and her self-opinion that she was not a good mother, in other words she was struggling with post-natal emotions or the term nowadays is "postpartum depression".

However, she was able to discuss this issue with her family and friends, discovered that it was a normal reaction to childbirth in the early stages after such and is coping as best she can. Having a support group like this is a sure-fire way of dealing with this issue, as I've read.

Garbine withdrew due to lingering arm injury. Monica Puig took her place.
