Emma just got lucky, which is nothing to apologize for. But the likelihood she will be able to back up her win is doubtful.

There are other women who only won one 1 slam despite being top-10.
So if Emma doesn't repeat, it wouldn't be the first time a player fails to do it.
The girl put herself in tennis history book. The question we should ask is, how long will it take for another player to duplicate her performance? 1 year? 10 years? 20 years? 100 years? ever?

Yes, Emma got DESTROYED!!!! To be honest with you, she didn't have to really play anyone like Leylah did (Osaka, Kerber, Sabalenka, Svitolina, Kanepi) while Emma (Sakkari, Bencic, Rogers, Sorribes-Tormo) who are all great players but they did not have the pedigree of Leylah's. The caliber of opponents was VAST!!!!! Now these players KNOW how she plays, and they are taking advantage of it! She will not be repeating at this year's US OPEN! Not going to happen. Her game is falling apart with each tournament. She's not even winning 1st rds anymore.

Give her some time to get her bearings. She is young and the adjustment to winning after a slam has affected many players. There is time.

She already has her bearings! She let her fame go to her head and now everyone knows how she plays. She will NOT repeat her USOPEN win

Leave it to Sloane to make Emma look good.

Well, at age 18 she has been more successful than any of us was in their profession, is more famous than any of us, and earned more than (likely) an6 o& us.

I doubt she cares about our opinion on whether she repeats the US Open win or not…

And winning 2 US opens as a teenager: not even Serena, Hingis or Graf managed that. Only Seles…

Fernandez lost to Inglis in R1, by the way….
