Alison Van Uytvanck and Greet Minnen, partners in doubles and in life, on Monday faced off against each other on the tennis court for the first time.

The couple competed against each other in a first-round singles match during the WTA tournament in Karlsruhe, Germany. Van Uytvanck, 25, and Minnen, 21, both from Belgium, are two of the few openly gay players on the tour, and have been together for three years.

“We have a lot of fun on the court. It’s fun to play with her,” Van Uytvanck told reporters. “We try things, and that helps us to improve our game.”

After Van Uytvanck came out victorious, 6-4, 1-6, 6-1, the two players met for a warm embrace at the net. Van Uytvanck gave Minnen a long hug then kissed her on the lips. Once the pair left the court, Van Uytvanck retweeted the video of their smooch.

The couple earned the Luxembourg Open title as a doubles team in October.

Earlier this month at Wimbledon, where they lost in the second round of the doubles tournament, Van Uytvanck said she strongly supports giving more players the confidence to come out.

“I support to have more players coming out and supported, but I cannot do it alone,” she said.
