Good win for this young'n. Took away the slice and drop game of Ribby and handled her ground game from the baseline. I knew erehand watching her court coverage against Venus that she would handle the slice and drop game of Ribby, making it a winnable match. Surprised, tho', at Ribby's lst serve. Don't remember it being so potent. Nevertheless, Cori's own game is well-disciplined, unusual for today's women's players that have one groaning at all the reckless miscues for the most part. Refreshing to see for a change. Nice win.

She gets Pelona Hercog next, who dismissed Keys today. Don't know about this competition. However, if Cori can attack the backhand of Pelona's, which is mostly sliced, then she can maybe prevail here, for Pelona's forehand is lethal and her serve is better than average. Tactically, if her coach (whomever he/she is) can tell Cori to go after that backhand persistently, she's got a chance. Yet, Cori can hold serve, even tho' her serve doesn't give you a lot of aces. It dictates enough to enable her to press her ground game, tho' loopy at times due to her being only 15. Iffy match-up for her in the 3rd rd, but she's shown enough to have a nice moment at Wimby, nevertheless, in addition to her performance solidifying a maindraw WC at the USO.
