AMANDA, Maria-esque Hype or the Real Deal?
Amanda seems to have a deceptively potent game and she has had some very solid wins to date. She just might have the goods, but you know the hype machine is gearing up for the American teenage blonde of Russian-descent. Re: AMANDA, Maria-esque Hype or the Real Deal?Take my advice: look at her game and compare that with how Maria was totally clueless on clay at age 17. There is no comparison. I just saw a summary of her match vs Halep. Outstanding. Enough variety to keep me pleased. In a way as fun to watch as I did with Justine on clay - an she is not even Belgian. From a Skan-point-of-view, I should root for Barty. But I'll root for Amanda tomorrow (and saturday?). "Never argue with an idiot - they take you down to their level and then beat you on experience" "Don't wrestle with a pig: you both get dirty, but the pig actually likes it"
Re: AMANDA, Maria-esque Hype or the Real Deal? The headlines say she 'overpowered' Halep which is quite shocking, very Maria-esque of 2004.
Re: AMANDA, Maria-esque Hype or the Real Deal?Anisimova has been on the radars for quite sometimes. She wants to be a top player and she is working on it. Re: AMANDA, Maria-esque Hype or the Real Deal? The one thing I like about those results is that power players are winning.
Re: AMANDA, Maria-esque Hype or the Real Deal? This is what I noticed in watching some of her highlights from last year and this year: "She's pushing the ball really deep. Sometimes you cannot go from there because the ball doesn't bounce," said Halep. "She puts pressure on [your] game. And even if she doesn't hit strong with a lot of power, she hits it very long, with good depth, and it's tough to return the balls." Re: AMANDA, Maria-esque Hype or the Real Deal?So now dear Halep, what are you going to do about it?
Re: AMANDA, Maria-esque Hype or the Real Deal? What can anyone do, she hasn't lost a set yet. Barty's variety might confound her, but that's perhaps all. I think nerves will get the better of Konta. |
