After a 3 year hiatus due to child birth and caring Pironkova just dismissed Vekic in 2 and is in the 4th round, earning a very nice paycheck of 250k for her fourth round appearance. She gets the winner of Madison v Alize. What can one say.....nice for her.

I bet Sloanie Stephens thought today would be her day against Serena, only to be thumped in sets 2 and 3.

If Sloane and Keys are not retired by 30, I'd be surprised. Sloane is listless at age 27 and Madison is forever injured.

Promising youngsters for the ladies......... 18 year old Marta Kostyuk (she's a brick........house) from the Ukraine and the 19 year old Iga Swiatek of Poland, who desperately wants to be friends with Naomi and wants to pair with her for doubles, tho' Naomi admittedly is inept at it and is understandably loathe to do so. Both are top-15 players down the road (within 2-3 years max) and possess all-court games and nice instincts.
