Now, they recently say that the virus can penetrate the eyes via transmission between adults, causing redness, which is an indication that one could be infected..... So, what now, wear goggles/glasses as well as the mask when going about one's business? A lot of question marks are in the offing in the coming months, while businesses clamor to reopen given the lack of a universal vaccine, which is still medicine with side effects, regardless.....
The eyes symptom was reported early on but i think it was ignored. I remember at the beginning when the hot spot was in the Washington state Nursing homes, one of the nurses said she was seeing a lot of red eyes in the residents that were infected. The CDC probably didn't pay attention.

I can't breathe in my mask, lol. I'd be doomed if I needed to wear goggles too!!

Bigger fish to fry tho ~ Little kids are dying from it with some kind of full inflammation mess. They can be asymptomatic but carry it for six weeks while it's attacking their whole bodies. That is so dangerous!! Three kids in NY died from it already, and it's totaling 85 in USA.

OMG!!

They paid attention, Sekasi, they just didn't tell everyone else. Our world-class CDC is nonexistent under Trump. A shame and really a crime!!

That's why I read medical journals. The Lancet is my personal best: https://www.thelancet.com/

I have to review these for work (plus several others) and mark every time my company or it's meds are mentioned. They were serious too!!

My sympathies to your nephew, family, relatives and friends on the loss of his wife.......

Since they live in New Jersey, that state has experienced over 9k in losses due to this virus, offset, tho', by +15k in recoveries. In addition to the daily, normal loss of life due to various reasons, those that have succumbed to this virus in such vast numbers has overtaxed funeral homes in this state where they have been unable to handle such, as one funeral home in NYC had 2 non-refrigerated trailers full, but couldn't get to them, letting loose odors in the community due to decomposition, as you previously noted. It's tough to be understanding when there is a loss of life, but when resources are overtaxed in this instance, it's reasonably understandable.....

Off-topic:

This virus has morphed into something other than the previous description as merely a respiratory issue. Now, we see kids with macro skin inflammations, younger adults succumbing to heart attacks and being on a ventilator for too long can cause other problems, offsetting the previous thought that ventilators were at least a reasonable panacea in dealing with the respiratory issue. Because it was initially determined to be a respiratory issue with symptoms similar to the cold/flu drug stores were emptied out of Vitamin C tablets in the attempt to prevent/preempt the onslaught of such, for OTC medications were recommended by physicians to patients here in Chi, who didn't have breathing issues and released.

I should've read your post first, Rex.

This mess is something else … all new, so we're scrambling. That's why I picked labs instead of patient care. No no no, lol. Because 85% of folks who were incubated expire, they only use it as a last resort now. The longer you're on it, less of a chance you have to survive (after 25 days, they ask next of kin if they have preferences for "last rights"). Really bad

We're still on lockdown, been since the end of February, with no plans for reopening. I'm staying my red a$$ right here in the house. I'm a homebody anyway, lol, and I'm loving the quietness at night 8) I go to the store twice a week and back in the house within a hour, lol. I'm like a cartoon, I crack me up  Trump ain't killing me!!

Indeed, Dj, "new" to me, as well, tho' Sekasi indicated, above, that the eye redness was mentioned earlier in Washington State when that state began reporting on its citizens testing positive for the virus. However, I'm just now learning of this possible link, per a recent article I read a couple of days ago. Further, prior to the recent reporting that being on the ventilator for an extended period is leading to other complications, I had read in passing years ago that extended days on the ventilator can lead to near-lethal, or lethal health matters, tho' not connecting same to treatment of the virus, given that reports of its use was helpful in recoveries. However, lately, this perspective has changed the longer a patient remains on such, leading to post-care, rehab and dialysis, putting a whole different light on its use.

Here is another article on it : Her description stuck in my head because I could not imagine the pain the residents were going through.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/23/health/c ... index.html

The veteran registered nurse started her own mental checklist: cough, rapid breathing and the red eyes -- all the sickest patients seemed to have the red eyes.

For Chelsey Earnest it was the eyes that became the single most important sign as she and other staff at the Life Care Center in Kirkland, Washington, struggled with the new coronavirus that was sweeping the nursing home even before it became feared across the country.

"It's something that I witnessed in all of them (the patients). They have, like ... allergy eyes. The white part of the eye is not red. It's more like they have red eye shadow on the outside of their eyes," Earnest said.
The American Academy of Ophthalmology sent an alert to its members Sunday evening that there are reports Covid-19 can lead to conjunctivitis -- which can lead to a reddening of and around the eyes. It warned ophthalmologists to protect their mouth, nose and eyes when seeing patients who could be infected.

"We've had patients that just had the red eyes as the only symptom that we saw and go to the hospital and pass away," she said.

Rex & Sekasi,

I'm concentrating and working hard ~ Give me strength!!

Just ignore dumbass Trump, and his white noise getting in my way, on purpose!! Honest to God, I think he's Putin's Puppet trying to kill us. Why is Trump, as a so-called germaphobe (forgetting that he was raw dogging it with playboy models & pornstars even when Barron was an infant) walking around and visiting places without a mask, like he's immunized?? That bastard is Patient Zero, which opens a whole new can of worms!! He even ordered Pence away!!
