White Diamond:

One night, 1989ish, we were hanging out at the Jamaican Club, then motor cycle club in Newark, NJ. Our police friend escorted us to the White Diamond diner (burger joint) … She went into the bathroom and I forgot she was there and left for home!!

Got home safely brushing my teeth, and the lan phone rang in Dad's bedroom ~ He said: "DJ, where is Judy?" Drunk Gone!!!

LORD, I forgot her in the bathroom, lol lol lol :P

She cussed me out for eternity I think ...

I think family would've killed me if I didn't have a kid to raise, lol.

Placed it here because after her shingles vaccine (which I told her NOT to get), she got really sick … Died of double pneumonia in a matter of months (heart attack from coughing violently while hospitalized)!!

Was that Coronavirus??

No wonder Merck is johnny on the spot for vaccine

Hi, djmm,

I haven't forgotten all of you; simply busy times and enjoying the good weather as much as possible.

Life slowly becomes normal, but social distancing remains the advice: masks are obliged on public transport, restaurants and bars with limited occupation etc...
Situation here (population of 11 million):
new cases on a daily basis- more or less 100 (sometimes lower than 50, sometimes 140, no trend). At the peak it was >2000
people admitted to hospital on a daily basis: 15-20 (at the peak: >600 per day)
deaths per day: approx 10 (at the peak: >300)

So we have it under control, but we know it will go up when we become sloppy.
To be honest: I have no idea what policy-makers in the US are thinking and doing. How on earth can you have some states relaxing and reopening when they report their highest number of cases since the start? How on earth can you actually still have numbers going up when the peak in most European countries was two months ago?

I can only conclude that many americans (in general) do not have the discipline to stay at home for 12 weeks. They want to be "independent", not liking to be told what to do. Well, they only way to control this virus, is to have a proper, continuous lockdown for 12 weeks. All those states that refused to do it properly will still have to do it at some point. If they had done it from mid-march (like we did), the worst would have been over by now. But their impatience (and stubborness, and thinking that they knew better than scientists) will come at a price.

I hold my breath for Europe too: I do expect a second wave, but I hope that we will be able to respond faster and more targeted (with contact-tracing finally in place).

Grav,
nice to hear from you and your numbers look great.
With the USA, it is more political than anything else. Most Republicans follow what Trump says and most states that are seeing new spikes are led by republican governors. Keep in mind we don't know how much these numbers are going to go up with the protests. I think by end of June we will know more. I see elderly people at grocery stores with no masks and I am speechless.

You are exactly right, Sekasi!!

Trump said again today that if we don't test, the positive numbers would go down. Either he's dumb or EVIL, but probably both!! That monster wasn't raised right (grand papi was KKK when Germany kicked him out for refusing to fight in WWI). NO Drumpf now Trump has ever fought in any country's war, but continues to push it. Worst family on the planet!!!

I'm convinced he's trying to kiss us; meaning trying to exterminate populations. But his dumbass didn't think it would migrate to the southern red states!! If you live there (my ex#2) get the hell out!! They are purposely under reporting (Florida fired scientist who was in charge of dashboard tracking) which was morally illegal. Team Trump is blocking the world's premiere health organizations (CDC and WHO) from speaking publicly. Only The Lancet is reporting about it. Just unspeakable really!!

Our next president (hopefully Biden) will have lots of heavy work to do, reason why he's taking his time with selecting his VP choice, and I hope he chooses Stacy Abrams of GA ~ She's fabulous and a hard worker!! I thought hard about Kamala Harris, but we need our only Black female to stay in Senate!! Val Demings. Congresswoman & Impeachment Manager is super too :)

GOD help USA

I still try to understand the Trump-logic of trying to infect all his republican voters in those mass rallies.
First they will become ill, then they will find out that there not enough resources to help them, thne they will find out that the healthcare system is not so good after all, and then they will somehow find a way to blame Obama and democrats for their bad luck.

My advice: stay away from those voters and let them make each other ill. Seems some people need to be confronted with deaths in their personal life before taking it serious.

I see that some states now have record number of new infections... unbelievable, knowing that lockdown measures in Europe and US both started at the same time mid-march. In my country, they reported yesterday some record-low numbers of new hospital cases (11 people), and deaths (4 people). AND our economy is back on track too (shops, restaurants, bars, BUT social distancing still mandatory). Even amusement parks re-open with proper measures in place. This is where the US could have been too with proper government that listened to science and less to stock markets. Hate her or love her, but Hillary never would have been so irresponsible.
