Day 8....Wimby
Konta plays every point like it was match point. Her level of concentration is amazing. That's why she is dangerous. She is never out of match until the last point is won or lost. Last edited by Ace2Ace on Jul Tue 11, 2017 10:55 am, edited 1 time in total.
BIG question mark over Ostapenko's facial expression at net after the match. Ummmm... Halep keeps on improving every year.... I can live with her as #1 (even if she does not win this slam). Thisis the third match I've seen today (only saw parts og Garbine) and all were top-quality. If RG and Wimbl are an indication of WTA post Serena and post-Maria, then I can live with that "Never argue with an idiot - they take you down to their level and then beat you on experience" "Don't wrestle with a pig: you both get dirty, but the pig actually likes it"
Re:Day 8....WimbyTerrible way for match to end as a fan screamed quite loudly while the point was still in play and definitely disrupted Simona's play on the ball. Just awful.
Re:Day 8....Wimby@ Skilletsauce: Didn't see it. Is this what the commentator below is referring to as 'slightly confusing moment'? Konta into the semi-finals 18:54 Johanna Konta reaches the Wimbledon semi-finals with a gutsy display of tennis against the tenacious Simona Halep. Konta has the steely Romanian on the run as she serves out the match. Halep is really digging deep to find a way past but Konta sets up match point with a crosscourt winner. The British No.6 seed completes a 6-7(2), 7-6(5), 6-4 win when Halep fails to make a return in a slightly confusing moment. Nonetheless, Konta goes through. My immediate reaction to what happened is that I would've called a let and replayed the point, for that is a sad and disrespectful way for Simona to lose on match point. Notice how awkward the handshake was at the net and how dead the crowd was afterward, for the action was cheap and killed the natural enthusiastic crowd response to a Johanna victory under other circumstances. #ed_op#/i#ed_cl##ed_op#br#ed_cl##ed_op#br#ed_cl##ed_op#br#ed_cl# Last edited by rex on Jul Tue 11, 2017 1:35 pm, edited 2 times in total. |
