Venus cruising in her service games so far. But seems a bit too casual out there imho. Ostapenko is a bit overwhelmed by the occasion it seems and hasn't found her rhythm yet. Venus up 5-2 first set

5-2... but no more BP since 3-0... pretty even in those last 4 games.

Venus could do more with the second serve from Aljona. And Jelena's returns are not that far out; if those two had clipped the line, it would have been a rebreak-opportunity

Not watching the stream.. so no much comment.
Scoreboard shows a pretty straight forward match so far for Venus.

I see a burgeoning assault coming from Osta. The 2nd set will be very different, I predict.

As long as Venus is serving well, Ostapenko has no chance. That's what I said yesterday.
Ostapenko's return position leaves the "T" wide open for Venus to blast aces and service winners.
If Venus starts missing first serves and DFting... then Ostapenko will take over.

Venus takes 1st set rather handily and continues to serve well. I think Jelena will pick it up in the 2nd and Venus needs to be prepared for that.

Venus was lucky that it became 15-15 and not 0-30...#ed_op#br#ed_cl##ed_op#br#ed_cl#And for the moment, Aljona manages to hold her service games... now again 40-0 at the start of set 2 #ed_op#br#ed_cl##ed_op#br#ed_cl#And Ostapenko also makes Venus move much more.... on several occasions Venus did not even run when Ostapenko switched from CC of a shot DTL.#ed_op#br#ed_cl#

Already JO is playing better in the 2nd. Vee is now playing catch up in this set, whereas it was JO who had to do so in the first.

4 aces + 15 Unreturned serves.. that's a good serving set. question is: can she keep it up?

1-1, but Ostapenko had her first BP....

Aljona really can take control of some of those longer rallies.
