That 2nd serve on match point and in general was suspect. With more match play and wins it should get better. The left knee issues might have something to do with it.

Leave it to Venus to make it difficult on herself, but a win is a win!!! Nice to see her finally pulling these matches out again. I was impressed most by her serve today. Double digit ace’s I believe with 110-113mph’s! Digging out of a love-40 whole! Of course, much was wrong from the movement to barely closing out facing bp’s to level the set 5all after being up 5-1, but again, a win is a win! Snaps a what 6 match losing streak?
Quick turnaround tomorrow against Jabeur, but it’s fine.

How sad for Serena, bad luck. With no Olympics, time to heal, relax and be in her best shape for the USO. Getting 24, if she does, would be best at her home Slam.

Not surprised Venus lost, but was a very winnable match. Never saw Jabeur play before and to say I was underwhelmed is an understatement.

Oh well, hopefully she’ll have some fun with Kyrgios and maybe even win a match or two.
