I've been reading the thread here about Taylor and the one at the Tennis Forum concerning her lack of attention to her own career and find it odd that people consider it a topic of constant discussion. Tracy Austin indicated during her match with Kiki Bertens at Wimby, which she lost by not executing an easy volley for game point that Taylor "does not like traveling overseas" and only does so for the Slams. She only wants to play stateside events and her record clearly indicates such. Given this information, why continue to belabor her intentions or non-intentions regarding her career at age 24 next year?

In addition, it's clear to me that she emphasizes "WTT" rather than the Tour and values same tho' it counts for zip. Note, per link, that Taylor didn't play a single tournament between Wimby and the USO once the focus of both Tours returned to the States, tho' some players opted to play Euro events ere coming to the States. During the months of July and August after Wimby stateside tourneys and a Canadian tourney in play were DC, San Jose, Toronto, Cincy and the Bronx. Taylor didn't play nary a one, but opted to play WTT with the Philadelphia Freedoms for the entire month of July and parts of August. This is what she thinks of her career and how she treats the Tour with a qualifying ranking for premier and international events here.

In response to Taylor's apparent indifferent attitude to playing stateside events it's good to see that the USO didn't give Taylor a guaranteed 50k paycheck by giving her a maindraw WC, but made her play qualies because they understood what Taylor's attitude is towards the Tour. I would hope other tourneys here (IW, Miami and Charleston) next year will do the same, make her play qualies if she doesn't qualify by rank and/or not even give her a qualie WC if her ranking declines by chosen inactivity on the Tour. Don't make it easy for her by giving her unwarranted WCs for her inactivity while she opts to participate in a worthless venue. Let her sit and don't play the Tour. I couldn't care less, for she doesn't care.

That remains to be seen, in addition to whether her presence fills the house in qualifying as well as doubles, as it did in the States.

Coco has to understand that when there is no Hawkeye, the players are at the mercy of the refs. She should not waste her energy crying and arguing endlessly because the call will not be reversed even if the tournament director is requested.
The learning process continues.

too much complaining about bad calls during the match against Samsonova. One of the discussions lasted a good 10 minutes. The tournament director had to come and argue with her. She was crying. She wouldn't take no for an answer.
She has to know the tournament director will not change the ref's decision.
