AO Wednesday, Day 3 OOPRe: AO Wednesday, Day 3 OOPBencic prevailed, thus saving my interest in this slam. Overall, the results of the 1997- generation has been very disappinting for me. Kasatkina missed her start of the season completely and already collected three R1 losses. It seems that she is not ready for the top10 status; time for someone to overtake her asap. Last year, she had a fair share of tough draws, and despite playing well, losing quite often against good opponents. This year, her draws were rather OK, but nevertheless she keeps on losing. Back to the drawing board for her. I hope she uses the next two weeks to solve her problems. Ostapenko: the free-fall continues. Winning RG was a poisoned gift for her. Too much too soon. Probably thinking that she got where she needed to be, and thus stalling her further development. Bencic has seen the bottom after being top10, though in her case it was a case of injuries (maybe she pushed her body too far when all the good results came in in 2015 - yes, her P5 win is more than 3 years ago). But it looks as if she is building her way back to the top 30; we'll see where she goes from there. Well, it is still not 2020, and that was the year I always said that there were no excuses anymore for the 1997-generation.
