Serena got pregnant at the wrong time. Had she waited 1 or 2 years, she'd have reached #24 and even more. The baby at 37 basically ended her career. Clisters was a lot younger when she got pregnant... and waited around 2-3 years to come back.

I agree. However, IMO, it wasn’t age so much as
mentality. The nerves of trying to tie Margaret
and the unwillingness to sacrifice time with her
daughter for the sake of her game.

I still believe she can do it, but as someone else has
said she can no longer be a part-time player if she
truly wishes to achieve this goal. I doubt if she really wants it(enough for the sacrifice required), but as
most agree she does not need it. Her status as the
best is secure for the foreseeable future.

While I wish Ree had not gotten pregs and married then, given that she was clearly in all-conquering, GS winning shape, had she waited until she sealed the record and then discovered she could no longer conceive, she'd regret chasing that record for the rest of her life. So many career women out there are living with such a regret, unable to conceive.

Very true!

It’s a matter of importance. Also, considering the complications she suffered in delivering Olympia God only knows how much worse it could have been had she waited. At the end of the day, if she doesn’t achieve that record, that regret would pale in comparison to possibly not having her daughter.
