Fighting words from Rafa regarding KyrgiosAustralia's Nick Kyrgios "lacks respect for the public, the rival and himself", says world number two Rafael Nadal. The 17-time Grand Slam champion lost a dramatic second-round match to world number 72 Kyrgios 3-6 7-6 (7-2) 7-6 (8-6) at the Mexican Open in Acapulco on Thursday. Spaniard Nadal, 32, said: "He's a player who in theory has the talent to win Grand Slams - a player who in theory has the talent to fight for the top rankings, but there's a reason he is where he is." Kyrgios saved three match points before beating Nadal, who was playing his first tournament since losing to Novak Djokovic in January's Australian Open final. Nadal said: "He is a very dangerous player but lacks consistency. "I don't think he's a bad guy. I think he's a good guy." OUCH
Re: Fighting words from Rafa regarding KyrgiosKrygios seems afraid to really put it all on the line and fail, which is why he wants to give the impression he doesn't really care about winning or losing. It's quite the opposite. He doesn't want to show he wants to win but fails. Sadly, he'll end his career with sour grapes. Re: Fighting words from Rafa regarding KyrgiosGreat win for Nick! Loved his ear thing with the booing crowd! lol As for Nadal, so interesting how ungracious the big 4 can be at times when losing, yet the opponents are expected to fall at their feet in deference to them. Re: Fighting words from Rafa regarding KyrgiosBTW, great match last night with Stan The Man, but I didn't see the ending!!
Re: Fighting words from Rafa regarding KyrgiosRafa was right about Krygios, defeated already. Re: Fighting words from Rafa regarding KyrgiosNick just rushed and tanked that match ~ He should be fined!! I can't stand that guy!! |
