Is she? She said yesterday that she expected to have lost long ago which is why she didn't bring enough clothes. So I'm thinking she just went for broke and it worked. Let's see her perform now with expectation before she's crowned the real deal. I saw some of her later matches and she was pounding the ball left right and center and they all went in. That's someone playing without pressure. Again, now let's see her back it up.

Lol, yes she is the real deal... like I said 4 years ago when the potential was there for all to see...

People called her a "pusher" because she had no Serena-power at age 18... LOL... players who have such power at that age never manage a breakthrough. They had their priorities in development all wrong.

Power comes with age, and altough she will never be biggest hard-hitter, she made great progress.

And she does not need to back this up: after her first P5, some asked her to back it up... then she did it by winning a second P5, and some asked her to back that up too... now she won a 3rd P5... time to stop asking to back it up.
She won this one by beating Venus, Muguruza, Halep and Woz... that is 3 of the last 4 slam finalists. And won against against 3 of them in about 26h...

I called out Kasatkina too as potential top player when she was otceven top100... and some AGAIN questioned her so-called lack of power at age 18.
Some will never learn.
It is not by accident that Kasatkina was the toughest opponent for Svitolina in Toronto...

4 years ago? That's a lifetime in women's tennis. Let's see if that so-called one-time meltdown in Paris resurfaces.

Yep... a lifetime ago I stuck my neck out for her - predicting her to be top5.
I even got her selected in the YE top10 game in 2014 (you can check that).

A player can fluke one event... but you do not fluke yourself to the #4 position ( or #1 in the race).

You can, if the pressure to succeed is kept at bay. Let's see. She had a meltdown playing someone with the pressure to win. By pressure to win, it's up to the press to do so by putting the question to her in Cincy and at the USO from the get go. No more sneaking up on the top players.

Had she had that in Canada, she would've packed appropriately.

On the men side, just look at Ferrer. He was a top player for eons during a time no one expected him to win big titles, and the one time it appeared he could go all the way, he had a 'meltdown.'

#ed_op#font color="brown"#ed_cl#@ #ed_op#b#ed_cl#Graveller#ed_op#/b#ed_cl#:#ed_op#/font#ed_cl##ed_op#br#ed_cl# Nothing new here. Pushers tend to rise fast in the ranking. We saw Wozniacki do the same. Pushing her way to bunch of Premier events and even slam finals.... becoming #1 in the process. Kerber pushed her way into the top-10 like a meteor. Wozniacki and Radwanska have been top-10 like for ever, with that game.#ed_op#br#ed_cl##ed_op#br#ed_cl#The thing is, there is always a power player around the corner to stop them cold during slams. Hard to push your way through 7 matches in a row. Didn't she tell her coach she was exhausted? Of course, with that style of play, asking to win 7 matches is a bit too much. The deeper she goes in the tournament, she more tired she gets. That's why in general (yes there is always that exception), pushers don't win slams. Yeah, we saw Kerber miraculously win 2 slam. It's still a mystery how she got away with that pushing and those cheap serves... Shouldn't happen; but tennis has its own mystery that mystery doesn't understand. :)#ed_op#br#ed_cl##ed_op#br#ed_cl#Wozniacki and Svitolina were playing cat and mouse: who is gonna get the other off the court to finally hit a winner? or who is going to miss first. Bunch of rallies went 12, 15, 20 shots...not a slam winning style in my opinion. (posted the match video for those who missed it).#ed_op#br#ed_cl#

Svitolina won 5 matches in 6 days... 4 of them against top10 players.

If you are fit enough to win 5 matches in 6 days, then she can win 7 matches in 13 days...
And most slam winners do not face 4 top10 players...

Svitolinawill win her slam(s) at some point... 😉
