@ Ace2Ace:

Petra K's section is hardly easy with Sabalenka, Naomi, Kasatkina, Bencic, Collins in the mix with Naomi having a tough lst rounder with Siegemund. There is also a potential 2nd round matchup between Kat' and Belinda. Lastly, tho' she appears to be the best in her section Petra K. can lose to anyone and, coming off that bad 2nd set last night in New Haven against Diyas, I don't think she's a sure bet to emerge from her section with all the up-and-comers featured and Sabalenka coming on strong of late.... It's the toughest section in the draw, in addition to not liking Petra's weight loss.

I'm picking Serena as well to emerge from her section, Kerber hers, Bertens, Ostapenko if she's not beating herself with errors over Garcia, Goerges, Garbine's section is questionable, imo, Ka. Pliskova, Petra M., Barty....Barty would be my pick there; Stephens the likely prevailer in her section, tho' I'm not a fan of Sloane. Vika would be my pick if she had weight, but she's too skinny and doesn't have the power in her ground game.....

Looks like I'm going to have to cough up some bucks for ESPN+ to watch this event, for I want the video quality.......

Right.. I will stop my subscription after the USO. Since Wimbledon, they've barely shown any tennis.
Useless.

In any event, a reshuffling of the draw is likely.

I turned on the scoreboard and Muguruza was leading 5-0. . I thought, well, it's one those ITF scrubs.
Then before going to bed, I checked again and it was 5-3. Hummmm... who is this ITF girl who wins 3 games in a row from 0-5? Most scrubs would give up. So I turned on the video stream to check. Surprise, this girl is actually fun to watch. So I stayed and don't regret it. Smile

In her 3rd WTA main draw match, Karolina Muchova defeated Muguruza 3-6 6-4 6-4
At 22, she is ready for the big stage. She is a good player. Big serve and ground strokes. Lots of varieties. Great fighting spirit. Never die attitude. Yup, she'll join the big girls in the top-100 soon.
She is a mature ITF player. I don't know if she's been playing Doubles, but she is good at the net and doesn't hesitate to move forwards. She is not stuck at the baseline. Nice to watch.

Great match !!!!
And this is also good news for Serena. When Muguruza sees Serena or Venus at the other side, she becomes Super top player. lol lol lol.. The sisters are a great source of inspiration for lots of players. They always play their best games against the sisters. And Muchova, if she gets to play Venus or Serena, will come out banging.
One match doesn't say it all.. But she has a good game. Hope she makes it one step further.
