CINCY Today

Both WS are slated to play but it appears Vee's rematch against Sakkari has been cancelled. Did Vee withdraw? She does have that knee issue.

Ree set to play Gavrilova, then perhaps Kvitova. Very tall order.

Nadal withdrew last night hours after his final's victory in Toronto, which started at 2:10 p.m. However, Mannarino's match with Cecchinato began at 12:35 p.m. yesterday in Cincy, which was prior to Nadal's withdrawal from such and, as consequence for PGame purposes, those who selected Nadal as fmKO for Cincy get the credit.

(Can't stand using a phone to text and update.).

Ree wins, seemingly decisively. Ummm... Kvitova next. Petra will surely come to life and play her best tennis.

Serena vs Kvitova

This was a great match from both players. Serena lost the match when she lost her concentration after breaking Petra to start the 3rd set. She played a 'low energy' game, got broken right back and couldn't recover.

This was a match were losing a serve meant something.
The match could have gone either way. At some point, Petra erased 3 break points with 3 aces? She served very well throughout the match, specially on the big points. If she could play at this level consistently, she would be #1. It's almost impossible to get into her service game when she plays at the level.

Serena was great, except the 2 games when she lost focus, committed some unfortunate errors and Petra didn't let go her opportunities.

Serena had her chances against this potent Petra, which shows she is ready for the US Open. Both would have advanced to the next round today with their games, had they faced other players.
Serena is back playing like the 23 slam winners. And Petra showed what she can do when she is on her game.
Excellent match for both overall. !!!

BS result. Petra hadn't done squat in how long? Suddenly, she plays. She seems like a nice gal but I pray for her swift demise.
