Madrid: SERENA Withdraws
MADRID (AP) — Serena Williams has withdrawn from next week's Madrid Open, saying she wasn't ready to compete. Tournament organizers say Williams withdrew because she needs more time to train before returning to action. Williams, a 23-time Grand Slam champion, returned to the tour in Indian Wells this year after a 14-month absence because of the birth of her daughter. Serena was not going to show up in Madrid after the tournament owner, Tiriac, verbally attacked her out of nowhere last month. We all predicted she would withdraw. Way to go, lady. Not wanting WTA to be lead by "a 36 years old, weighing 90 kilograms... " I think Serena twitted .. not sure if it was her fans .. The story was on for a few days. Re:Madrid: SERENA WithdrawsInterestingly, Venus is still scheduled to play this event. If you were her, would you withdraw for your sister?
Re:Madrid: SERENA WithdrawsOk, Serena could use the extra days with her family and more training. Sounds like Pat Cash 😀
