Having said that : I think it would be very entertaining to attend such an event.

I guess WTA or ITF or someone knows how to put together some junk tournament to get bunch of money from New Yorkers. Hantuchova, Bartoli, Svitolina, Cirstea? World class?? They got some cheap players for cheap.
How much are some people willing to pay to watch Serena for 10 minutes? This is all about putting the Williams on display in New York.
Wonder how much they paid Serena for this? 100 times what they give to Hantuchova? lol lol lol

Serena should have landed @ Indian Wells since last week; relaxing, light practice, then pick up the pace trying to get back into the real thing... needed about 3,4 days doing that... But the "mustermund" coach knows what they are doing, so...
She'll have to fly to Indian Wells overnight, baby in tow, unpack, settle in, and play her first match Wednesday or Thursday? That's some crazy scheduling for someone who hasn't played in 15 months.

Just read some first match-up’s of the man draw ( did not see the full draw myself, it is info not verified by me:
Serena doable R1 and R2 (Diyas and Bertens), BUT Venus in R3...

Also due to withdrawals, we have MD appearance for Van Uytvanck, Bencic and Martic.

Good news for me and for Rex...

Unless this was to be WWE style nothing backfired.
The best competitor won on the night.

Cheers to Svitolina!
