Oh come on, I had hope for Amandine Hesse to grab a few points here.
What an ugly draw for her!

There was a time whem Acapulco had Venus as poster girl; now they gave to settle for Stephens and Mladenovic as top seeds...
Now that is a bit of a set-back...

it's only going to get worse. Most young player would rather enter the new 125K in Indian Wells.#ed_op#br#ed_cl#So Acapulco will soon attract only locals girls and fading players looking for new glory.

Maria Sharapova should come and save Acapulco.

For the men:

Rafael has withdrawn due to a lingering knee issue. Appears IW is in doubt, tho' not confirmed.

He either withdraws or he loses due to his bad knee....#ed_op#br#ed_cl#But I would not be surprised to see him sit out the whole US HC period in march, and try to get ready for the clay-season.#ed_op#br#ed_cl# #ed_op#br#ed_cl##ed_op#br#ed_cl#

I see. Agreed.......if he doesn't play IW, nor Miami, he'll likely return for the clay season (Monte Carlo, Barcelona and Madrid) ere the French, where Roger will likely skip again.

Good choice, btw......

Jill Teichmann, a young lefty with patience and big shots.
She can be a pusher for 8 shots, and then out of nowhere, bam, a cracker forehand inside-out. And then comes a nasty lefty out-wide ACE.
Nice. Very nice.
We need more young players like Jill.
