Venus Williams has filed an emergency court order in the wrongful death case brought by the family of a man killed in car crash involving the tennis star.

Williams, 37, filed the emergency protective order on Wednesday claiming that the daughter of Jerome Barson, the man who died in the crash, gave Williams' lawyer less than 24 hours notice that her attorney would be inspecting a vehicle involved in the incident.

In documents obtained by ABC News, Williams asked the court to bar any inspection or collection of data from the Barsons' vehicle until the court can establish a "procedure for the proper collection of all data" and her lawyer can be present.

A hearing has been scheduled for tomorrow. Until then, all parties are restrained from gathering additional evidence.

Williams faces a lawsuit from the family of Barson, 78, who died from injuries sustained in the crash on June 9 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

According to the police collision report obtained by ABC News, Williams was "at fault for violating the right of way of [the other driver]."

Jerome Barson's wife, Linda Barson, was driving the vehicle, a Hyundai Accent, when it hit Williams' Toyota Sequoia. He was taken to a local hospital and died from his injuries two weeks later.

While discussing her first-round victory at Wimbledon on Monday, Williams broke down after reporters asked a question about the crash.

"There are really no words to describe, like, how devastating and — yeah, I'm completely speechless," she said, as she held back tears in the tournament's media room.

"Maybe I should go," she said before a tournament representative told her it was OK to leave. She returned later and answered a few more questions.

The lawsuit, filed by the Barsons' daughter, alleges wrongful death action, and the family is seeking damages in excess of $15,000, according to a copy of the lawsuit obtained by ABC News.

After the collision and Barson's death, Malcolm Cunningham, an attorney for Williams, noted in a statement to ABC News that authorities did not issue her any citations and that "Venus expresses her deepest condolences to the family who lost a loved one."

Police are still investigating the crash.

I think this action by Venus' attorney is to protect Venus on the compensatory damage aspect of the pending civil suit, filed by the Barson daughter, for Wrongful death. Necessary to be there to inspect the vehicle for someone could add something to the damaged vehicle and say it was priceless to be damaged so severely and wants the item to be redeemed for its value.

I've seen a copy of the civil suit and it's inflammatory, alleging a host of things.

They released video of the accident. Vee was driving through a green light, then someone cut her off by making a left right in front of her and she was forced to stop. When she started driving again (being caught in the intersection) her light was red. Then a car came zooming in from her right and hit her. Now, I'm from NJ, and drivers are suppose to make sure it's clear before going through intersections. Why didn't the other car see her and stop?? That's Florida for ya!!

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) -- Tennis star Venus Williams legally entered an intersection but was cut off by another car, setting off a chain of events that seconds later resulted in a fatal crash with a third car, police say video released Friday shows.

The video, taken by a security camera, shows Williams heading north as she stops her 2010 Toyota Sequoia SUV at a stoplight behind a white car as she exits her Palm Beach Gardens neighborhood shortly after 1 p.m. June 9.

When the light turns green, the white car turns left onto a six-lane, heavily traveled boulevard, but Williams heads straight. A dark colored sedan turns left in front of her, causing her to stop.

She then continues straight into the far, westbound lanes, where her SUV is struck in the passenger's side by a 2016 Hyundai sedan driven by Linda Barson.

Palm Beach Gardens police said in a statement Friday that Barson's light had turned green just before Williams moved in front of her. Barson's 78-year-old husband, Jerome Barson, died June 23 from injuries suffered in the crash.

Williams, who was not hurt, has not been cited or charged. Police spokesman Maj. Paul Rogers said Friday the video has caused investigators to rescind their original conclusion that Williams was at fault and that no blame has yet been determined.

Jerome Barson's estate has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Williams seeking unspecified damages. Linda Barson, 68, suffered numerous fractures to her arm.

Williams, 37, is now in England competing at Wimbledon, a tournament she has won five times. The 10th-seeded Williams, who has won her first three matches, broke down in tears Monday when asked at a press conference about the crash.

Michael Steinger, the attorney for the Barson family, said the video shows Williams caused the crash by "violating the Barsons' right of way. "

"There is nothing that disputes Ms. Williams' was in the intersection on a red light, and the witnesses clearly confirm the Barsons had a green light and lawfully entered the intersection," Steinger said in a statement.

Williams' attorney, Malcolm Cunningham, will be releasing a statement later Friday, his spokeswoman Kirby Allison said. Williams has career on-court earnings of more than $34 million and her own clothing line, EleVen. According to Forbes Magazine, she also has endorsement deals with Ralph Lauren, Kraft foods, Tide detergent and Wilson sporting goods.

Her younger sister, Serena Williams, the world's fourth-ranked women's player, is sitting out Wimbledon as she is pregnant with her first child.

The authorities investigating a fatal car crash involving the tennis star Venus Williams said on Friday that new evidence showed that she had legally entered the Florida intersection where the collision occurred.

In an initial police report about the June 9 crash, the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department had said that Williams, 37, was at fault in the crash as a result of “violating the right of way” of the other vehicle involved.

According to that report, witnesses told investigators that Williams had run a red light in a Toyota Sequoia S.U.V. just as a vehicle driven by Linda Barson, 67, entered the intersection on a green light. Jerome Barson, 78, was a passenger in his wife’s 2016 Hyundai Accent and died 13 days later after sustaining injuries in the crash.

But in a statement distributed on Friday, the police said they had obtained new evidence that shows that “Williams lawfully entered the intersection on a circular green traffic signal” and was traveling north. In addition to their statement, police released a video of the crash.

It's been completely glossed over that she herself could've been killed, though it's very tragic the gentleman died. I can imagine the wife is feeling guilty as I would.

I hope this puts an extra pep in her step that she rides to victory.

Fortunate for Venus in that her vehicle (the 2010 Toyota Sequoia) outweighed the Hyundai Accent by 3,000 lbs and she was on the left side of her vehicle when Mrs. Barson t-boned her, or she could've suffered severe injury, like the passengers in the opposite vehicle, one eventually returning to Spirit, unfortunately. Venus was lucky to escape the accident physically unscathed but largely due to her own vehicle's much heavier weight and being on the driver side.
