Elina Svitolina, who is the number four seed this week (I confess I was a little surprised to learn that) is 6-3, 3-0 up on Francesca Schiavone - oh hang on a minute, Venus has just beaten Wang. 4-6, 6-4, 6-1. That's decisive in the end, and that means Venus is through to a match against Naomi Osaka on Friday. One worth watching, I'd suggest.

Looks like end of the line for Kvitova: double break down and getting an MTO while Brengle waits to serve for the match..

Kvitova out: now the bottom section gets really interesting...

Watch out for Svitolina.... if not her, then why not Ostapenko, Venus, Konta or Konjuh...

Ps: not counting on Azarenka yet...

Petra petered out in the 3rd, physically lacked wind, stamina and endurance. Damn.....

Go back and hit the track for 5 to 7 miles a day for awhile, then every other day. Forget treadmills. Get out in the outdoors and run......
