Day 2.....Wimby

Post by rex » Jul Tue 04, 2017 5:51 am

Schedule:

http://www.wimbledon.com/en_GB/scores/s ... index.html

Center Court lineup of:

Angie
Novak and
Roger with my boy, the Dog. (Definitely watching)

In addition to Roger and the Dog, my interest will be on:

Mona v Coco
Martic v Gavrilova
Gulbis v Estrella (still following the disappointing Ernie G., tho' the match conflicts with Mona v Coco. (Pip mandated)....

I simply CANNOT believe that Pavlyuchenkova lost that second set.....

5-6 15-40 up.... having TWO matchpoints.... getting THREE more in that game....

Then the TB: 6-4 up... AGAIN two MPs... one on her own serve.... but loses 4 points in a row... and the set...

She simply wore out Rodionova in those last games but forgot to capitalise. Rodionova could hardly produce a decent first serve anymore.

Ernie G. wins in 3 lopsided sets. He did play a solid match of tennis with very little to any wild backhands and forehands to compliment his strong lst serve. All righty....

Next match for him is the winner of Del Potro and Kokkinakis. Well....... I'll be watching at least.

LOL, and then an easy break by Pavs is the first game of Set 3... couldn't you have played like that a few minutes ago?

Gonna switch over to Kerber now...

Mona loses in 2. After losing the lst set 7-5, the 2nd set was never in doubt, losing 6-2. The girl lacks competitive drive at age 27.

Falconi playing the match of her life... still lost 6-4 to Kerber.

But Falconi really gets to every ball: doesn't matter where on the court she is: she always gets to the next ball. She forces Kerber to go for really tough winnners and it frustrates Kerber.

I wonder if Falconi can keep that up in a threesetter (the runnnig, I mean).

8-all and Gavrilova is cramping. Yet, the heart of Daria is off the charts, coupled with the high quality of play from both players. Great match....

Yes she can and didn't lose a point. Fabulous match and a solid display of all-court tennis by both players.

Happy for my girl, but I can't say more about the competitiveness of Daria. She had 8 aces, 54 winners offset by 43 donations, to 4, 29 and 3 for Petra while playing through leg cramps in the last 4 games.

Questioning myself as to why Daria is not a fav for me, for I duly appreciate her game, competitive spirit and high quality of play. If she was taller than 5'5 she'd be in the top-5 on this Tour. Just an o/s talent.

Petra is still too thin for me, but her game remains a gem. Despite Gavrilova cramping, Petra looked the worst for wear at the end. Yet, she saw the match through and finished in good stead. Gets the winner of Allertova v Osaka next and that's a clearly winnable match for her. Nice win and a great match...
