The good news is that Petra Martic, Taylor, Destanee, Kristie Ahn (Ace's girl), Kai Kanepi (welcome back) and Kayla Day are all in different sections of the draw and can all qualify if they win 3.

The bad news, for me, is that Yafan Wang of China withdrew from qualies. Been dying to see this talent play Tour events or European/Stateside ITF events, but she is solely glued to events in her home country.

Lastly, Destanee has a possible matchup with Barbora Krejcikova in the 2nd rd. Both players have already met competitively in the Aussie land ITF events this year and Barbora reached the final of the Nurnberg 250k last month losing to Kiki Bertens. She's a crafty lefty with an all-court game (another talented Czech) but is struggling to reach the top-100 and I don't know why. Should get there some time this year at age 21. Nevertheless, good luck to the aforementioned and, again, I hope they all come thru and qualify.

Nice draw for once. My girls are not 'killing' each other.
Come on Aiava; time to get out of Australia ITF mode. Got to win abroad...

Destanee, Kristie, Petra M., Asia and Frankie Abanda move on to the 3rd and final round, while Kai Kanepi surprisingly hasn't amongst others.

Unfortunately.......Aiava, Kristie (ate breadsticks) and Asia are moving on to the hardcourt season, unless they're playing the Euro 250s (Bucharest, Gstaad, Bastad or Nanching) in the meantime. Thought Destanee would handle Erakovic, but she lost by a decisive scoreline of 6-3 6-2.

Was about to include my girl, Petra Martic in the lst paragraph, but she recovered from a 2-5 defecit in the 3rd to win 7-5!! Congratulations......!!

Abanda and Rodionova were the other qualifiers and Grav' has mentioned that his home girl, Van U', has made the cut. Falconi also qualified from the States.

Aiava got to do something to get out of the Qualifiers jungle.
Last night I checked Erakovic records. She was in the Wimbledon 3rd round last year, all the way from the Qualies... I had no idea she was a veteran who had some pretty big wins.
From that point, I knew Aiava had to show up or go home. Missed the match this morning. Checked the scoreboard and didn't see the little TV icon by her match. I assumed it wouldn't be streamed. wrong. wrong :( P:( never assume.. just go look. :) :)
She was crushed 6-3 6-2. she only got 1 Break Point. That's total domination. Needs to find a hard court small event to win and get out of Qualies. That's how Haddad Maia and Vondrousova earned their ticket out of the Q jungle. But seriously, Aiava needs to beat girls like Kristie and Erakovic if she wants to move up in the ranking. Look at what Sabalenka did to Kristie to whom Aiava lost twice already in the past month. Back to the drawing board girl. Don't head back to Australia and stay iddle for 3 months. It killed your momentum when you did that this year.

Jabeur totally destroyed Muhammad to finally enter the top-100... I was thinking the match would be tighter. But no. A hot bagel from Panera is was she got served.

Kristie was mercilessly crushed by the Lenka girl. What was that? can't even hold serve? Very disappointing.

Yes, Congrat to the young canadians Abanda and Andreescu. A big paycheck waiting for them. That's how to stop being broke all the time. :)

Go Francoise !!
go firmly to the window
and listen with deep emotion,
but not with the whining, the pleas of the coward;
listen-your final pleasure-to the voices,
to the exquisite music of that strange procession

Girl Aiava, watch this video of Serena playing Erakovic, mixing offense and defense like a true ppro :).
