0-2. She hasn't been to a slam final since the 2004 USO. It seems a lot longer though to me... because she's been to like 7 semis since then I think, but hasn't won a single one of them.
Edit: Just checked... since the '04 USO she's been to the QFs 9 times, SF 6 times. GS Semis have not been too kind to her.

Poor Elena... As much as I want Serena to get grand slam 14 to get closer to Martina Nav. I mist say I would really like for Venus or Elena to win the US Open. I would really like Elena too altho I would be disappointed at the same time. Or her to win the Australian Open. The last two years she has done so good the tournaments before the Open, but just couldn't do it. I think had she got thru the Justine Henin match she would have been in the finals vs Serena, but oh well. |

Dementieva's serving problems have been gone for more than 2 years now. It's rare these days for her to have a match where her serve is a liability. Nowadays her problems are more mental than anything else.
RG 2008 (QF vs Safina.. she had matchpoint), RG 2009 (3R vs Stosur), Wimbledon 2009 (SF vs Serena, had MP), and AO 2010 (2R vs Justine, had SPs in every set) are all matches that immediately jump to mind as matches that she could/should have won. USO 2009 (2R vs Oudin) and RG 2010 (SF vs Schiavone) also... but she was injured, so she has an excuse for those two. And she mentally collapsed vs Jankovic in the semis of the 2008 USO too. Her serve wasn't an issue in any of those losses... everything is 100% mental with her right now.
I hope she wins a slam though. She deserves atleast one. I have a feeling she'll win one when everybody least expects her too.

Elena can serve pretty good now Her serve will NEVER be the weapon that Venus's and Serena's serve is but.....man oh man, Ace, I used to watch Elena DF what 11or 15 times in a match and I'd be sitting on my bed equally LMAO and marveling over the atrociousness of her serve and the.....deadliness of her return game. Elena has given me alot of pleasure where tennis concerned but it's rare that I ever laugh at her serve anymore. |

Ok then.. But can she wait for Serena to retire before she wins a slam? Because I want my girl to win all of them from now on.
Let's see
14- 2010 USO
15- 2011 AO
16- 2011 RG
17-2011 Wimbley
18- 2011 USO
19 - 2012 AO
20- 2012 RG
21-2012 Wimbley
22- 2012 USO
23- 2013 AO
24-2013 Wimbley
25- 2013 USO
retire.

Ace I really hope Serena stays until 2013 season is over. I still think she will be gone at the end of 2012 season, but then again I thought she would be gone before now. Maybe she will do what foot said she might and play for several years just playing like the majors and Miami(kind of like she does now LOL)... It would be cool to see her playing in 2015 |

Sharapova/Dementieva has to be in contention for the 'worst match of the year' award. Yiiikes! They were both competing well, but that's about it. Maria's serve was the worst I've seen it since the Oudin match last year. Dementieva's serve was horrible the first few games too, but she got better as the match progressed. She has no rhythm off the ground right now though... you can tell she's low on match-play. Maria will need to step up her level drastically vs Radwanska.
Kirilenko was disgusting in the 2nd set of her match too. Just totally gave up. Almost 40 errors... that's appalling. Lost 9 games in a row to end the match... ouch.
Somewhat of a choke from Bartoli too. At 6-3 3-1, I thought for sure that the Stanford Queen would finally get her 1st win vs Azarenka... but she let Vika right back into the match. Disappointing. But.... I'm glad Azarenka won. Hopefully she beats Stosur. |
