Azarenka vs Pliskova the highlight of the day...

I guess R2-matches like this happen when you have top players whose rise to the top (where they belong) is never supported by preferential seeding post-pregnancy...

Seeding a returning top player is not new at Wimbledon. It has always been at their discretion to do so. Wimbledon seeding committee exists for that reason. They can take into account anything they desire: pregnancy, injury, illness, resurrection, etc...
Nothing new here, Graveller.

Wimby attendance is o/s here. Even the side courts are packed for doubles, let alone singles. Nice to see.......Briefly looking at a dubs match featuring Ostapenko/McHale v Asia Muhammad/Naomi Broady.....

Wozniaki out!! The 2, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 8th seeds are now all gone. Have to say Makarova almost blew this one. Serving up 5-3 and 40 love she lets Caroline break her and then tie the match at 5 all!!!!! OMG I was thinking what a major choke. She held on for 6-5 and then broke to close out the match. Not sure what it is with players closing out matches these days. Very strange.

Hi Skillet, couldn't see the end of the match. Thanks for the update.
So disappointed I missed Serena's match (again) - was looking forward.
