Another domination ends.
Meldonia, Meldonia, Meldonium: where have you gone?

Without Meldonium, Sharapova is just another mid-tier player bound to lose to also-rans like Bertens.

This is the sad reality for her and her camp.

Time to put the asterisk beside her titles, won by a cheater.

2018 = the year of Maria's Mediocrity.

@ PeterSkan:

To be fair, on clay Bertens is one of the better players - without  doubt amongst the top-10 on this surface.

Played six WTA finals in her career, won five.... all finals were on clay... Last title was Charleston this year.

Kvitova schools the youngster Kasatkina 6-4 6-0.
I only watched 1 matched LIVE today before heading to work (Pliskova vs Halep). I have only seen a few highlights here and there. It's nice to see power players dominate again. Austrlian Open was bad with pushers everywhere.

The way Pliskova played in Stuttgart made me believe she would beat Halep today.
Pliskova's ground game has improved, specially the forehand cross-court. She doesn't hit it, just a little spin to place it in when she is out of position. In the past, she'd go for bombs and miss by 1000 miles. Smile Smile

Halep's advantage over her was the ground strokes. Pliskova erased it and Halep had no other option. Pliskova's serve and returns are better. It makes sense she prevailed.
Sorry darling Halep, got to add something new to your game if you want to beat Pliskova from now on. Maybe try adding drop shots and lobs to your arsenal. Beautiful ground strokes side to side won't do it against this girl you used to eat for breakfast.

I think Pliskova will do well in Paris.
Wouldn't be something if she could win the Stuttgart-Madrid combo from nowhere?

@ Mytiwtiw:

What domination?
Barely winning (losing sets) against players that are everything but clay-court players?

A true claycourter would have won against Barty or Cibulkova with 6-2 6-1...

KP got hosed today in her match with Sakkari and responded with an attack on the Chair, slamming her racquet against such. Attached is the video, showing the reason for her eruption. Justifiable in my eyes, tho' she will be fined for her actions. Btw, the linesperson who made the bad call, was removed from the match. The score was 5-all in the 3rd at 40-all:

@ rex:
Hawkeye is the solution. But French Open is too cheap to take the lead. It's giving a bad example. Didn't Stuttgart provide Hawkeye during its exhibition prior to this year's event?
Forget all the excuses about ball marks and install Hawkeye. French Open doesn't even have lights... that tournament is still a century behind.†
