TB in the first set Petra vs Aggie...

I understand now why Aggie makes so few UE's: she simply cannot hit the ball hard enough to be too long... She seems to give it all, and th ball still lands a metre before the baseline :-)

No idea on who will win the TB: two completely different styles

And the set went to Aggie 7-6 (7-3)...

It is weird: no matter how hard she plays, or what direction she plays: Aggie is always there to send the ball back. She reads Petra really well. And at some point, Petra goes for too much.

I also watched the second set between Svitolina and Voundrousova. I was not yet on he Vondrousova-train, and after seeing this performance, I definitely stepped out of the line of people wanting to buy a ticket to be on her band-wagon.

Not a single winner that caught my imagination; a youngster with no idea on how to respond to a dropshot (or how to execute one): too much power without substance.

For some reason, this morning, I had no desire to watch any tennis or even check the scoreboard.. So while I am writing this, I have no idea who beat who...
Let me bring up the scoreboard.. :)

wow..
First observation: bunch of 6-0 in the final set.
Why didn't those players claim some type of injury at 0-5 and retire? :) :) They stood there and took the beating. Unless it's a case like Mattek-Sand or Siegemund, players should play that last set. It irks me when players withdraw with 1 game left to play.

Halep taking out Makarova. That was my prediction. Thanks Halep for sending her packing. When Makarova faces Sharapova, she can't hit a single ball on court. Her knees shake, hands tremble and she looks miserable; as if beating Sharapova was a death sentence.

Keys served a bagel by the youngster? wow.. should have retired at 0-5. lol lol lol
Mladenovic lost? Not happy. Never seen this Blinkova play... Is she a grinder or a power player?

Svitolina beating Vondrousova: that was my pdgame prediction as well. First time I watched Vondrousova, my conclusion was that she was too good for ITF and should quickly move to the top-100. She did that and I think that's were she belongs.. Not ready yet to take out the top players. She is a work-in-progress.

I expected Osaka to do better in this match... disappointed.
Kvitova almost losing to this pusher? What a mess !!! Glad she survived.

Konta, darling Konta. That's the way.. Nice result !!!!!

Wozniacki destroying my little German darling... I am mad. lol lol

Pliskova: 6-2 6-3
Well done.
Kerber cleaning up Stosur ... Everyone should have predicted this one. Sam can't win anything.

Wozniacki Caroline[1] vs [Q] Monica Niculescu
Konta Johanna[10] vs Kerber Angelique[8]

Svitolina Elina[3] vs Kvitova Petra[16]
Goerges Julia[9] vs Buzarnescu Mihaela

----------- Bottom Half ----------

Garcia Caroline[7] vs [Q] Anna Blinkova
Cirstea Sorana vs Muguruza Garbiñe[4]

Pliskova Karolina[5] vs [Q] Catherine Bellis
Sevastova Anastasija[13] vs Halep Simona[2]

Out of the top-11, Venus is the only one not playing here and only Ostapenko failed to reach the R16.
Further, for the competing top-16, only 3 didn't make the R16.
That's a good result so far.
