As I did last year, I will provide a monthly (well, more or less) overview of the results in the WTA Prediction Game.

My planned overviews are:
* End of January
* End of march (post-Miami)
* The Clay-overview (post RG)
* The grass-overview (post-Wimbledon)
* The US-HC overview (post US Open
* The Asian overview (End of season)

This overview will also give the top10 of the rolling ranking. The complete ranking can be found at  another place  on e website, together with the Hall of Fame of each event (presenting all winners of the past for each tournament, going back to 2002!).

For the newcomers: what is the rolling ranking? Well, the rolling ranking takes into account the PGame results of last 52 weeks, but not all events are included: in most years only 30 events are included:

All slams + YEC (5)
All Prem.Mand events (4)
All Prem.5 events (5)
Your best 7 Premier events of the last 52 weeks (7)
Your best 9 International events of the last 52 weeks (9)

The structure of each PGame is the same: you make predictions for each match in R16, QF, SF and F... Per round you can earn 8 points, but for Prem.5 and Prem Mand, we double this (16), and for the slams/YEC, it is doubled again (32pt per round in slams/YEC).
This makes it interesting until the very end... a correct winner in R16 of a slam gives you 4 points, a correct winner in the final 32 points! And doing well in a slam will have a bigger impact on your ranking than doing well in an International - just like in real life...

On top of that, there are R32 for the slams and the major Premier events. So more points can be won, and we get involved in an earlier stage  Smile

Earning a "default" value for every event: the default score is equal to the lowest score obtained by an active participant in the first round of predictions.
So if you miss a (mandatory) event, you do get some points anyway. In order to get those points, you need to have entered 3 events actively over the last 52 weeks. Once you entered 3 events, you receive the default score for each event of the last 52 wks (retro-active scoring) - from that point onwards, you start to "defend" points (or try to improve your set of best Premiers/Internationals).

Good luck to all in 2018!!!

JANUARY 2018

We played seven events this month: 4International events, 2 Premiers, and 1 Slam.
And here are the winners:

GRAVELLER: Winner of Prem.Brisbane
Titles won in 2018: 1
Career Titles: 63
Ranking in all-time titles standings: #2

JDG0828: Co-Winner of Int.Hobart
Titles won in 2018: 1
Career Titles: 1
Ranking in all-time titles standings: #76 (you got to start somewhere...)

JEFF IN TEXAS: Winner of Prem.Sydney, Int.Auckland
Titles won in 2018: 2
Career Titles: 12
Ranking in all-time titles standings: #21

JDG0828: Co-Winner of Int.Hobart
Titles won in 2018: 1
Career Titles: 1
Ranking in all-time titles standings: #76 (you got to start somewhere too...)

PERDIDA: Winner of the AUSTRALIAN OPEN
Titles won in 2018: 1
Career Titles: 1
Ranking in all-time titles standings: #76 (Opening with a Slam: now THAT is a way to start off Smile )

THEMO: Winner of Intern.Shenzen
Titles won in 2018: 1
Career Titles: 23
Ranking in all-time titles standings: #10
Note: After a (more-or-less) sabbatical year, a former #1 in the rolling ranking is back with a win in Wk#1!

Events foreseen for February & March:
- Prem. St.Petersburg (2017-winner: Rex)
- Intern.Taipei (2017-winner: Pyotr)
- Prem.5 Doha (2017-winners: Pyotr, Wannadoo75)
- Prem.5 Dubai (2017-winner: Mytiwtiw)
- Intern.Boedapest (not played for a while: 2012-winners: Kunalwalia, Wannadoo75)
- Intern.Acapulco (2017-winner: Ace2Ace)
- Prem.Mand. Indian Wells (2017-winner: Pyotr)
- Prem.Mand. Miami (2017-winner: Mytiwtiw)

Pyotr got three titles to defend,Wannadoo75 and Mytiwtiw have two titles, and both Rex and Ace2Ace have one.
Quite remarkable that everyone who won in January has no titles to defend in the next two months....So they can play stress-free Smile

Rolling ranking (top10) on 29-01-2018

1. (+1) Wannadoo75 - 1359 pt
2. (-1) Rex - 1330 pt
3. (+1) Graveller - 1304 pt

4. (-1) Ace2Ace - 1174 pt
5. (+1) 93tennisroyalty - 1147 pt
6. (-1) Jeff in Texas - 1134 pt
7. (-) Mytiwtiw - 953 pt
8. (-) Anishmitch - 899 pt
9. (-) Pyotr - 897 pt
10. (-) Pingpong0 - 674 pt

Compared to the 2017-YE ranking, we have a NEW #1: Wannadoo75. Well, not so new actually: this is the 9th time that he becomes #1.
A very interesting fact: last week, both Rex and Wannadoo had been #1 for 173 weeks: Rex finally had caught up with Wannadoo... but the latter now has 174 weeks Smile
On #3 we see Graveller, who gets into striking distance of the #1 (with no titles to defend in the next two months, and three big events in the pipeline: Doha, IW and Miami). Will he be able to get to #1 again? (last time was wk#32 in 2012).
And 93tennisroyalty entered the top5....

@ BJM123:

Home page, box on left hand side with the text “prediction game” and “enter your score here”

Click on the event that you want to play and fill in scores in the sections that are “open”. You can modify your scores as long as the section is not closed.
Have fun!

I picked Wannadoo to win this year, one more time. The guy is too good. He is the Serena of the PredictionGame.

FEBRUARY-MARCH 2018

Miami is behind us, clay is knocking on the front door. Time for the second wrap-up of the year.
Here are the five winners of the last 9 nine weeks:

GRAVELLER: Winner of Intern.Budapest
Titles won in 2018: 2
Career Titles: 64
Ranking in all-time titles standings: #2

PYOTR: Winner of Prem.Mand. Indian Wells, Prem.Dubai, Intern.Taipei
Titles won in 2018: 3
Career Titles: 12
Ranking in all-time titles standings: #21
Note: FIRST player who successfully defended a title at Indian Wells! Also defended his Taipei title.

REX: Winner of Prem.5 Doha
Titles won in 2018: 1
Career Titles: 68
Ranking in all-time titles standings: #1

WANNADOO75: Winner of Prem.Mand. Miami, Intern.Acapulco
Titles won in 2018: 2
Career Titles: 59
Ranking in all-time titles standings: #3
Note: Second player to complete the Prem.Mand set: won Bejing, Indian Wells, Miami and Madrid at least once (Miami was the missing piece).

93TENNISROYALTY: Winner of Prem.St.Petersburg
Titles won in 2018: 1
Career Titles: 27
Ranking in all-time titles standings: #7

Events foreseen for the Clay Season:
- Prem. Charleston (2017-winner: Graveller)
- Intern. Monterrey (2017-winner: Ace2Ace)
- Intern. Bogota (2017-winner: 93tennisroyalty)
- Intern. Lugano (NEW)
- Prem. Stuttgart (2017-winner: Rex)
- Intern. Istanbul (2017-winner: Graveller)
- Intern. Prague (2017-winners: Jeff in Texas, Rex)
- Intern. Rabat (2017-winner: Rex)
- Prem.Mand. Madrid (2017-winner: Graveller)
- Prem.5 Rome (2017-winner: Mytiwtiw)
- Intern. Strasbourg (2017-winner: Wannadoo75)
- Intern. Nurnberg (2017-winner: Ace2Ace)
- Slam Roland Garros (2017-winner: Rex)

Rex got four titles to defend, Graveller three, and Ace2Ace two. Some other have one to defend.

So far, we have 10 different winners, but only Pyots managed to win more than two (i.e. three). And then there are some regulars still waiting for their first of the season (Ace2Ace, Anishmitch, Mytiwtiw). This season, we have on average 13-14 people who participate, and it shows: much harder to win events. In the three previous seasons, we had one or two players ending with 10+ titles. I think that it will be hard for anyone to win 10 events if the same players keep on playing.

Correct uWP direct result of my first two titles otherwise I'd have lost both by 1pt.
IW, thank God I predicted the correct score! Able to still win despite taking the uWP hit.

3 WTA titles, I'll take it! More to come! Wink
Plus, I have 4 ATP titles as well!

@ Pyotr:

Yes, you are on a roll for the moment... ATP overview will follow soon.

Good to see people win with uWP’s; kinda forces people to pick one too 😀.
One of the reasons that I pick them sometimes - to make life hard for those who like to play safe...

My motto is: Go Big or Go Home!
It's why I always pick a uWP.

PS. I stay away from Vegas for that very reason!
