2nd quarter Sharapova: LOL... R2 Sevastova, R3 Kerber (R4 Muguruza?)...


3rd quarter: Kasatkina got a decent draw... but!!! R1 Venus vs Bencic. What a cracker to start with... gutted with that one.

and in the 4th quarter, the roas is open for Wozniacki.

Conclusion:
Top half looks totally open, but in the bottom half it is all set up for a Svitolina vs Wozniacki SF...

So got to pick those two in my Skan.. cannot rely on Halep, Bencic or Kerber, given their tough draw.

In any event, Kerber is in a groove at the moment and will more than likely defeat Sharapova and Garbine, assuming Garbine even plays.

My thoughts on the draw:

Interesting 1st Rounds
Barty-Sabalenka
Safarova-Tomljanovic
Makarova-Begu
Williams-Bencic
Cibulkova-Kanepi
Puig-Stosur
Krunic-Kontaveit

Section 1
- It'll be interesting if Halep and Kvitova meet in R3, especially given how fast the court plays. I'm not sure who wins (I dont know their H2H)

Section 2
- It's nice that Gasparyan is back
- I think Pliskova is the favorite here

Section 3
- It's good for everyone that Maria isn't playing a seed R1
- Sharapova-Sevastova would be a good R2
- This section is tough with Kerber, Radwanska, and Muguruza (although Kerber is the only inform player). Let's see who comes through.

Section 4
- I like Keys and Sasnovich here. We'll see how Caro is feeling but that section is pretty open.

Section 5
- This is a tough section with Goerges, Mertens, Gavrilova, Bencic, Williams, Makarova, and Begu
- It'll be interesting who comes through but doesn't look good for Venus. It'll be a great result for whoever else makes it out

Section 6
- All Svitolina (her and Woz have the best sections for top4 seeds).

Section 7
- I like Coco coming through here but there are many good/tricky players so it is very open.
- Cibulkova, Krunic, Kontaveit, Puig, Stosur, Suarez, and Kanepi are dangerous

Section 8
- All Wozniacki

Bencic will not gift her any points. And Venus needs those to compensate her own slew of errors.
Venus is in trouble.

Ostapenko is the only 1 that has ever won a slam in the entire 64-player list at the bottom half of the draw. And that's Ostapenko's only title.
Besides her, only Wozniacki has ever been to slam final among all those 64 players. What an opportunity for someone new to step in and make history!!!
