I see that Vera ...

... Zvonareva is back in the mix, qualifying at Tashkent.

Will be interested to see how far she takes this.
go firmly to the window
and listen with deep emotion,
but not with the whining, the pleas of the coward;
listen-your final pleasure-to the voices,
to the exquisite music of that strange procession

I thought it was headcase Svetlana who wept her way through tourneys.

Agreed, Ace. I think many players are having 2nd thoughts about retiring early after seeing the successes of not only the Sisters, but Roger at 36. Roddick is still trying to convince himself that retiring was the right thing to do, while vainly attempting to awe spectators with his serve on the senior circuit, as Roger is winning Slams and Mk's at 36, Nadal at 31. I'm reading now that Dokic is on the comeback trail.

Dokic needs to stay retired. She wasn't very good.

Athletes realize just how dull life is off the tour. Nothing can replace an athletic life. Sitting at home, vacationing, working in an office just can't compare, even to losing a match or risking injury.
