Re: USO OOP....Day 7... 9/6/20Silly nonsense.....Naomi's match is starting at 11:05 pm EDT. Empty courts galore and they wait for Ashe for this match. Re: USO OOP....Day 7... 9/6/20Not seeing the match and just this clip, I first have to say this rule is plain idiotic. Second, as soon as I saw this I thought of the Cincy Open last week where an ATP guy hit the cameraman. Like Djokovic, it was unintentional. Yet, if memory serves me right, all the player got was a warning? I've seen some say the rules are the rules, but unless the rules are hard line without exception, how is it right one gets what amounts to a slap on the wrist and another gets a DQ, at a Major no less? Re: USO OOP....Day 7... 9/6/20Tennis TV@TennisTV · Aug 25 Common sense prevails Thumbs up Aljaz Bedene receives a code violation after this unfortunate incident with a court-side cameraman. #CInCyTENNIS https://twitter.com/TennisTV/status/1298301260471336960 Re: USO OOP....Day 7... 9/6/20Just read from a youtube video of Bedene hitting the cameraman:
Can we get into conspiracy theories here? The lineswoman is fine and Djokovic clearly didn't intentionally hit her... Common Sense! Not intentional: Warning, move on. Rule is a rule: Make it uniform, not discretionary. Sucks that this cost Djokovic a potential Major Title. Re: USO OOP....Day 7... 9/6/20it is a thin line, but Djokovic dit hit it hard without looking -and it hit someone in the throat, whereas Bedene gave it a flip - not in the direct line of the camera man, but according to the supervisor it deflected on the railing. I see a difference. But I admit: I don't like Novak, so I cannot be objective. I suggest he drinks oame water that he first purifies by thinking positive to calm down... #NovakTheCovidiot "Never argue with an idiot - they take you down to their level and then beat you on experience" "Don't wrestle with a pig: you both get dirty, but the pig actually likes it"
Re: USO OOP....Day 7... 9/6/20If there's a silver lining in all of this I hope it will cause Novak to control his outbursts a bit better and definitely look to where he decides to hit a ball in a fit of frustration. It's rather unfortunate as I don't think Novak meant to hit the linesperson, and he was clearly sorry and concerned for her, but the officials decided to stick with the rule on this matter. What really stinks is that Novak essentially threw away a solid weeks worth of his time and energy to get absolutely NOTHING in return. No title, no prize money (not that he needs it), and losing an wonderful opportunity to get closer to Rafa and Roger's slam totals. If this were a lower ranked player the heartache would easily be quadrupled. Re: USO OOP....Day 7... 9/6/20I think he'll get something out of this. More focus and fuel to his fire. I used to hate how easily he'd let lack of crowd support get to him. I must say that he overcame that beautifully and the culmination of that showed itself at last years' Wimbledon. Therefore, calling on even more emtional control as you hope for may indeed serve him well in the long run. |
