Skan-Time !! Paris on the menu

Post by Graveller » May Mon 20, 2019 6:56 am

The Skan-event for Roland Garros has been set up.
Feel free to enter a (provisional) team; my first choice (without seeing/knowing the draw) has been submitted.

Good luck to all (especially the ATP feels difficult this time).

Thanks for setting it up. Here we are again. Everyone right now has equal chance. Who is going to be first to mess up? :)
Come on, Serena, time for #24 !!!!!

Just updated the teams from tennisforum (up to Daydreamer on p.2)

16 teams so far. Not bad, given that the draw is not out yet, and we are still 4 days away...

For the moment, one 3 people picked Serena; less than 25%. Never seen that before, and I guess her withdrawal at Rome has a lot to do with that.
Also few people picking Tsitsipas so far. I guess the temptation of picking both Novak and Nadal forces them to go for a lower-ranked player. I take the risk and going for Tsitsipas (at the expense of Noval). His match vs Nadal in Madrid was fantastic. I am also considering to get rid of Nadal and replace him by Thiem; normally I go risky in WTA, but now it may be the moment to go all-or-nothing.

As for WTA: Rybakina is in the QF-draw (won her first match 6-1 6-2), and if she gets in the MD, I could go for her too (depending on the draw that is given to my current WTA-selection).

Super !!!!!!! Thanks!!
Come on, folks... Don't wait until the last minutes. Get your draft team in... change it later when the draw comes out. So if you happened to be busy by the time the draw is here, at least you have a team.
Good Luck !!! May Ace2Ace win it all, with the blessing of the pope. :)

Haha, it never looks good when the organiser wins :-) (goes for me too; I always feel a tiny bit guilty for winning a PGame when I did most of the administration for that game)

I now always enter a team at the start; I'll change when the draw is out (and I know all the qualies).

Keeping my three WTA picks: nicely spread in the draw and decent W1-matches.

Rybakina will have to wait (and still one match to win before she in on the MD)

RandomSkan is in. And watch out, he rolled a pretty good team this year:

1. Delpo
2. Kvitova
3. Muguruza
4. Federer
5. Andreescu
6. Thiem

Not bad for completely random.

You have to figure that there is a statistical probability at some point that RSkan would win a SKAN. Like that thing, you know, about typewriting monkeys and the works of Shakespeare.
go firmly to the window
and listen with deep emotion,
but not with the whining, the pleas of the coward;
listen-your final pleasure-to the voices,
to the exquisite music of that strange procession

Okay, with a few changes I'm ready!!

Let the games begin ...

BTW, if you've never been there, the grounds with all their flowers are lovely!! Coming from the NY Metro concrete jungle mess (I'm in suburban NJ), I was enthralled by the quaint and intimate setting. I thought the front gates were the backdoor, LOL!! Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience ~ Fell in love with Paris 8)

Wimbledon!!
Roland Garros!!
US Open!!
Margaret Court
