In the PGame: Last year winner was Perdida.

Wannadoo75 is the only participant who won this event twice. First time that the event was played in the PGame was 2009 (winner: Footsoldier).

I see that Petra K. got the weight back on her upper body. Good to see....

Re the match with Samsonova, a player I've never seen ere and who reminds me of Kanepi by body build, Petra looked good while Ludmila is a nice player. Have to see more of the 129th ranked Samsonova at age 21, who has a very good lst serve and a pretty good over all game.

I saw Samsonova's previous game. I like her attitude. She doesn't hold back. She is fearless. She won that match hitting 14 DF and a good number of aces/service winners. Hope she develops a 2nd serve to avoid gifting away so many points.
She could turn into a dangerous floater.

Maria Sharapova claimed the Brisbane International feels like “a second-hand event” after the women’s tournament was shunted off the main court by the ATP Cup.

Traditionally, men and women would have shared top billing but the introduction this year of the ATP Cup means no women’s matches have so far been played on Pat Rafter Arena.

That will change on Thursday, when action at the ATP Cup switches entirely to Sydney, but the scheduling has come in for criticism.

Osaka messed up... 7-6 *6-5... a service game away from victory.
But she got broken, lost the TB, and lost the plot in set#3.

I was looking forward to two nice sunday-finals: Serena vs Wozniacki and Kvitova vs Osaka.

Serena was the only one who delivered.

With regard to the AO, most top10 women (with exception of Serena ans Pliskova) somewhat underperformed.
Let us see if some can get some positive results next week. Halep will be playing, and I see that Barty and Bencic are playing too.
Kvitova - well - with the hot temperatures I do not expect her to excell in Melbourne, so a SF in Brisbane is OK. Let us see how she does in Adelaide.
