Two doubles matches yesterday; could not watch them, but good results:
the IW-winners Sabalenka+Mertens won their opener, as well as my perfect 1997 combination Bencic+Kasatkina

In the singles event, Azarenka confirmed my IW-assessment that she is not a top player anymore, but an easy draw for seeded players: barely survived her 3-set opener vs Cibulkova (who has an 'amazing' 1-4 W-L record in 2019), and now knocked out in straight sets by Garcia (who has an 'amazing' 3-6 W-L record in 2019).
And 3-6 4-6 looks better than it was: she was 0-5 down in the opener; almost bageled by a player who has a terrible start to the year (Garcia got bageled by Brady in her IW opener-loss).
"Never argue with an idiot - they take you down to their level and then beat you on experience"

"Don't wrestle with a pig: you both get dirty, but the pig actually likes it"

Since her comeback, Azarenka played her best tennis @ Indian Wells against Serena. All commentators and spectators agree. She is a dangerous opponent because of her potential. She has the game to win a slam anytime. She is struggling to play as well as she was playing before her pregnancy.

Caroline Garcia has an excellent coach. But he is also her dad. I think he's done a great job. But it's time for her to find someone else that can push her more than her dad. She is wasting her talent. Her dad should be an adviser, a counselor, etc...

Caroline Wozniacki's game improved with Sasha Bajin. But her dad is always there thinking he can take clues from those coaches, fire them and do it himself. She could have done better without him.

Watching Halep vs Taylor ...
If Taylor cannot get a tennis coach, she should just go back to school, play college tennis.. lol

How does one play a match standing 100 feet behind the baseline on ground strokes, first serve and 2nd serve. Does she even watch the top players play tennis?

Doesn't she watch Osaka, Serena, Ostapenko, even Andreescu? They are on the baseline, ready to step inside on short balls. Taylor stands back waiting for any ball to come to her. What kind of coaches watches that without doing anything about it?
There is no pressure on her opponent's serve. nothing.. And those moon balls are not going to hurt your opponent. If this girl is serious of becoming a tennis pro, she needs to hire a coach. She can't do it on her own.

My lady Halep will eat you up like cheap burrito. How did Halep even lose 2 games in this 2nd set?
This should be a double bagel.

I tried to watch Bencic vs Puttintseva so I can talk about it to Graveller ... :) :)
That was a bad match too. I don't really see what makes Bencic a top player. She is just back there redirecting, trying to get her opponent tired running side to side. :) Still not impressed no matter how I try to tune into her game.
I couldn't watch. all the matches I saw were so snoooooooozzzzzzzzzz tonight.
Putintseva at least tried to change up the shots. Bencic's shots are too predictable. This match could have gone either way. But Bencic could not defend her breaks.

Only saw Serena's last set. Girl looks like she is pregnant again. hmmmmm... 2nd baby on the way?

Kvitova vs Vekic... It's all about what Petra's doing.
I thought Vekic was a power player but no.. she just gets the ball back. She really has nothing to hurt Petra.
If you don't have Halep's down-the-line beauties or Andreescu's drop shots or Osaka's serve and returns, what can you do that Petra cannot handle?
