US Open
I was sitting here thinking of an interesting possibility in NY this year. It's a bit of a stretch but I thought about it nonetheless. Suppose Novak goes on to win Wimbledon and has captured 3 legs of the slam and then makes it to the finals of the US Open and then decides to default (for some strange reason) to silently protest his default from the tournament in 2020. It's a highly unlikely scenario as I think capturing the grand slam would most certainly win out over making a statement about being defaulted. But it would certainly generate a lot of buzz and controversy not to mention deny the spectators, tournament, and viewers the opportunity to witness history in addition to gifting a slam title to his opponent. It would be the ultimate revenge move, but a foolish career move. Last edited by Skilletsauce on Jun Tue 15, 2021 9:50 am, edited 4 times in total. Re: US Openthat's really a strange reason. He should think the opposite. Go to USO with humility, apologize 1000 times, and let the past go.
Re: US OpenHaha, not worth it as his main objective is to become GOAT with the most GS titles.
Re: US OpenYes, I believe Novak would choose to be in that very elite and selective group of players to have won a calendar year slam over anything else. But just imagine the amount of controversy such a move would cause? It would be the tennis topic of the year. Re: US OpenNaomi is young. she's got at least another 10 years of tennis in her bag. And she's got to keep that demeanor of a shy girl. Re: US OpenNovak? Inconceivable ... go firmly to the window and listen with deep emotion, but not with the whining, the pleas of the coward; listen-your final pleasure-to the voices, to the exquisite music of that strange procession Re: US Openbathroom breaks shouldn't be allowed. How did players do before that rule was added???? Re: US OpenThen get rid of the medical timeouts as well. If you can’t cope on your own physically be it through injury or urination/bowel movements, so be it! /sarcasm Sorry, but so far as I am concerned this constant complaining is just so ridiculously weak! Yes, the rules were put in to help the players. Yes, players can use/abuse them for strategic and psychological purposes. However, for as much as some do, conversely, if you are not mentally strong enough to survive a bathroom break do you deserve to win? |
